    Altweidelbach was first mentioned in a document in 1006 in which Archbishop Williges from Mainz inaugurated the newly built church in Mörschbach and determined its parish district.
    Ever since it was built, the Altweidelbach church has remained the gem of the village to this day. It has been praised in numerous publications as an excellent example of a Baroque village church, to which the pretty surroundings contribute to advantage.

      The Kauber church division in September 1706 awarded the Altweidelbach church to the Reformed. In 1761 a new church was built on the site of the chapel that had completely collapsed. The hall with octagonal roof turret, which encloses the altar on three sides in the east, is attributed to the mason Adam Hauser. According to folk tradition, the stones required for this were broken by 13 citizens in the forest called "Wolfsloch". In 1796 an organ could be purchased from the famous Stumm family of organ builders from Rhaunen. In 1785, Altweidelbach was separated from the parish association with Pleizenhausen and - after a short Argenthal interlude - was permanently connected to the parish of Simmern in 1814/15. The church underwent thorough renovations in 1857/58, 1892, 1907, 1956 and 1983, the organ was repaired in 1839 and completely restored in 1988. In 1838 the cemetery was moved from the church to the outskirts. In 1853 the church received new bells and in 1880 new church windows.
