    A windmill that has been moved three times. That is the reality for Skjern Mill.
    It was built in 1872 in Albæk, just east of Skjern.
    When the railway line was built and brought residents, the mill had to be moved closer to the town and in 1882 it was moved to Skjern.
    For many years the mill stood in Skjern and did its job, and since it was forbidden to build taller buildings around the mill, it was able to do so.

    During World War I, when people wanted to use wind power, the mill was moved to Marupvej just outside the town, as there was more wind there.
    The mill supplied the town with energy from then on.

    Today the mill still stands on Marupvej, where it is part of the Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum. Fahl Inn is part of Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum, where you can experience history where it happened.

    The museum consists of a number of authentic buildings, each of which tells its own exciting story, of the life that was lived here and how people and landscapes shaped that life!

    At Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum, history is not just a showcase. Here you can experience LIVING HISTORY with all your senses - through lively, guided tours, children's activities and guided tours. Children and young people up to 18 years of age have free admission when accompanied by an adult.
