    The Theatiner Church (St. Cajetan) at a glance:
    1. Construction history:

    In 1663, the Italian Agostino Barelli began building the court and monastery church of St. Cajetan in the Baroque style. It was inaugurated in 1675 while still in its shell. It was not until over 100 years later that Cuvilliés the Younger completed the facade in 1768 in the Rococo style.
    2. Location:

    The Theatiner Church is located in Munich's old town on the west side of Odeonsplatz, next to it is the Feldherrnhalle, and opposite is the Residenz.
    3. The name:

    Today's court and collegiate church is dedicated to Saint Cajetan. The Theatiner Church got its name from the people of Munich through the Theatiner priests who worked in the church from 1675 to 1801.
    4. Sights:
    The magnificent exterior facade, the Wittelsbach princely crypt, the 70-meter-high dome, the Theatinerhof (currently being renovated)
    5. Services:
    The Dominicans of the St. Albert Province have been looking after the church since 1954.
