Surprisingly, the planning for the construction of the Wuhlheide marshalling yard goes back to the 1930s. Construction began on May 14, 1938 and stopped again in 1942 due to a lack of workers due to the war. The GDR resumed planning, on October 1, 1953 the Rbf. Wuhlheide was officially put into operation and expanded over the years. In 1994 operations at the marshalling yard were discontinued and in 1995/1996 the usable tracks of the entry and direction groups were dismantled.
