Rembrandtplein is a large square in Amsterdam, named in 1876 after the painter Rembrandt van Rijn.
The square was once the butter market in Amsterdam. 1852 was here in the presence of King William III. a statue of Rembrandt unveiled and then in 1876 the name of the square changed from Botermarkt to Rembrandtplein. After the Second World War, the square became the center of nightlife with the opening of various hotels and cafes.

Since Rembrandt's 400th anniversary from 2006 to 2009, several smaller statues were in the middle of the square in front of the Rembrandt Monument, representing the famous painting Rembrandt's "The Night Watch".
