Hedwig Müffelmann - an artist from Otersen
In our church hangs a painting that stands in special connection to our community. Before the original condition of the altar from 1894 was restored, a painting by Hedwig Müffelmann influenced the altar for many years. Since 2003, the former altarpiece hangs on the right in the sanctuary.
The image shows the crucified Christ, surrounded by Mary and the disciples of John, James and Peter, and is painted in the typical Romanesque-naive style of the Nazarenes at the time of origin, which corresponds to the religious feeling and piety of the time.
