The Walterstein nature reserve is located above Hofheim am Taunus between Eppstein and Lorsbach.

The area can be reached quickly and easily from a small car park belonging to the NSG.

The rock face is above the L 3011 between Lorsbach and Eppstein. Coming from Lorsbach, it is on the right-hand side of the mountain, about 10 minutes' walk from the Salzhaus car park, in the forest.

It is a whole group of rocks known by the people of Lorsbach under the name of Walterstein. Climbers call an approx. 30 m high rock face at the lower end of the rock group Lorsbacher Wand. According to the latest agreement with the nature conservation authorities, it is the only area of the rock group that can be climbed. The Walterstein vantage point is located on one of the upper rocks.

The ascent to the rock face is difficult for the inexperienced in the last section of the path, as the rock face is surrounded by a scree field and a rock ledge has to be overcome.
