Ticino hut-to-hut day 3: Capanna Adula to Bellinzona
Leaving Capanna Adula, we opted for the direct way down, but this is important: this descent is well outside the scope of a typical gravel or bikepacking route. It involves around 75 minutes of hike-a-bike on a narrow, steep and rocky mountain trail, with very little actual riding.

Day two began in the warm light of the rising sun, heading towards the Passo dell’Uomo (2,210 Meters). The climb was almost entirely rideable for us, with just a short hike-a-bike section – but in such stunning surroundings, we hardly noticed the steep gradient.

In the 7th season of the Ticino Komoot season, it was easy to travel from Locarno / Orselina with the gondola 🚠 to the Cardada and then with the chairlift to the Cimetta. That saves us 1300 hm and should guarantee us pure Traispass.

From Bellinzona I have chosen a flat stage towards Locarno. Since it rained around noon, we are not in the direction of the Maggia valley, but to the river delta of the Maggia. Between Bellinzona and Locarno we rode a lot on the official cycle path, so technically everything was ridable for everyone

It was still dark when we set out for the season. But the day will soon come and we flew in with the SBB through the Gotthard tunnel to Down Under. In Lugano we switched to bus 461, which took us to Sonvico Sasselo quickly and without any effort. So we save a few grains for the upcoming single trail

Leaving Capanna Adula, we opted for the direct way down: a 75-minute hike-a-bike on a narrow, steep trail plunging straight into the Valle di Blenio towards Dangio. If that doesn’t sound like your idea of fun, you can backtrack to Olivone along the same road as the previous day, then follow the main
