Unfortunately, the route around the Ulmener Maar was closed at one point below the castle. It must have been a landslide. The tunnel under the A48 was a great highlight. Please note that this has opening times and is currently only open until 5 p.m. in the evening in October.

Because my boys had such fond memories of the route, we walked it again after years. Despite the drizzly, cloudy weather, at least on the way back there was a lot going on, with some people being inconsiderate and unfriendly. So the whole thing was rather stressful. A shame.
