The Pestrup burial ground always offers an interesting glimpse into the past. The heath on the Bronze Age burial mounds was covered in hoarfrost and shrouded in fog today. An hour later, the winter magic had thawed because the temperatures were slightly above 0°C.

The winter hike of the Fuhrenkamp Protection Association (fuhrenkamp-schutzverein.de/kategorie/allgemein ) in 2025 led to the Stühe in the municipality of Dötlingen. The Stühe is an old forest with many beech and oak trees. Today we had fog at -2°C . The fog had partially frozen on the bushes and trees

Today there was a lot of water in the Pestrup Moor. Let's see how long it stays that way. The paths were easy to walk on because it had frozen during the night, otherwise there would have been dirty shoes. 😉

The Pietzmoor in the Lüneburg Heath was restored in 1985/86. A 4.4 km circular trail offers a good view of the moor. Half of it is on a wooden boardwalk.
My highlight of the hike was seeing an adder basking in the sun. My first in the wild!
