Located in the center of Magedburg, the Green Citadel next to the Magdeburg Cathedral is probably one of the most frequently photographed buildings in the city. The last work on which Friedensreich Hundertwasser worked before his death was completed in 2005, and houses various shops, restaurants and a hotel. Incidentally, the name refers to the grassy roof.

The Green Citadel is a building in Magdeburg designed by Friedensreich Hundertwasser. It was completed in 2005. It is the last project that Hundertwasser worked on before his death. Until the demolition in 1959, the Nikolaikirche stood on the site of today's Green Citadel.
