Monument to Frederick Augustus the Just

Frederick Augustus the Just (born December 23, 1750, in Dresden; died May 5, 1827, in Dresden) ruled Saxony for almost six decades, longer than any other monarch. As Elector, he endeavored to rebuild the country after the Seven Years' War. In 1806, he was enthroned by Napoleon as Frederick Augustus I, the first King of Saxony. After the defeat of France in 1813, he lost a large part of Saxony's territory to Prussia.

The beautiful and detailed statue of Augustus the Just had already stood in various other places before it was placed in this place since 2008, where it was very well presented.

Wycieczki piesze

Since May 29, 2008, a sculpture by Ernst Rietschel has stood on the site of the Albert memorial, showing King Friedrich August I “the Just” in a seated position. The memorial, cast in the art and bell foundry Lauchhammer, was erected and consecrated in the Zwinger in 1843, later found a place at the Japanese Palace and, thanks to the efforts of the city, the Saxon Academy of Arts and private sponsors, was given its final place on the palace square in 2008.
