At the summit of Mt. Battie stands a stone tower, built in 1921 by the Mt. Battie Association. Previously, a hotel called the Summit House stood on this site since the late 19th century. Access was from the north via a carriage road, which was later expanded into a paved road to the summit with a parking lot.
From the summit and the tower, we have a magnificent view of West Penobscot Bay and Camden Harbor under blue skies.
