Stary ratusz w Filsen jest jednym z niewielu zachowanych domów szachulcowych, zbudowanych nad łukiem. Jego konstrukcja szachulcowa nosi datę 1611. Sam łuk i podstawa są jednak prawdopodobnie znacznie starsze. Fosa biegła stąd na zewnątrz wsi aż do Renu.
Tędy prowadziła również jedyna droga do Osterspai, a także droga dla wozów przez grzbiet Renu, z której korzystali już Rzymianie. Bramą wieś była zamykana na noc...
