The stretch from Tabaretta to Payer is a truly enchanting segment of the trail. Not difficult, but very beautiful from the point of view of the landscape and the views it offers, from one side to the other, especially when you are on the ridge.

Useful intermediate stage in the ascent from Solda al Payer and Mount Ortles.

The Tabaretta refuge is a must for the ascent to Payer, starting from Sola. It is advisable not to stop but to arrive at the foot of the majestic Ortles glacier.

The Tabarettahütte is beautifully situated on a wide ridge on the north face of the Ortler. From here you have a wonderful view all the way to Lake Reschensee and the Ortler, practically on your "doorstep".
