Stone Mountain sits at 7,655 feet and lies at the end of the ridge that extends east above Big Thompson Canyon from the summit of Round (Sheep) Mountain. The summit of Stone Mountain is the only spot on this ridge line that breaks above the trees and therefore offers amazing, 360 views of the entire area. Because of its proximity to Round Mountain, Stone Mountain is not nearly as popular, so it's an excellent alternative if you want to escape the crowds, or a great addition to Round Mountain if you want to add some mileage and elevation to your hike to a summit that is less crowded and offers better views. There is a little bit of scrambling (class 2) to the true summit, but it's a short section and the path is relatively well-traveled.
