The church of Saint-Pierre-le-Vieux in Strasbourg, which has been a listed building since 1981, has the peculiarity that it is dedicated to Catholic worship on the one hand and to Protestant worship on the other. Originally built in the 14th century in an elegant Gothic style, it was expanded in the 19th century to comfortably accommodate the influx of worshipers.

However, the church of Saint-Pierre-le-Vieux, which is one of the oldest buildings in the Alsatian city, has undergone many changes, in particular the foundations of an ancient Romanesque cloister.

Pink sandstone and grey granite: two building materials that can be seen in almost every old building. French buildings mostly have sandstone elements, while German buildings mostly have granite elements.
