Higher up, the vistas open to showcase the majestic Three Sisters and Broken Top. The Tam McArthur Rim provides incredible viewpoints, and as you approach Broken Hand, you will find yourself closer to the dramatic features of Broken Top.

To best enjoy this high-elevation trail, plan your visit between late July and early October, as snow often persists until mid-July. A Central Cascades Wilderness Permit is required for day trips if you plan to go between June 15 and October 15. Make sure to secure your permit in advance through recreation.gov. Checking the weather forecast before you head out is also a good idea, given the exposed nature of parts of the route.
