The island ‘Western Ear’ is located off the southwest tip of the ‘Isle au Haut’. At low tide you can walk across to the island and have a fantastic view of the western rocky coast.

Western Ear is a solitary island that stands just out of reach across the water from Isle au Haut. The scenery of Isle au Haut is rugged, dramatic, and isolated, and no more so than here. To the east the Western Head Trail continues through the forest and along the beach, while the Cliff Trail ascends the rocky coastline to the west.
