The Extremaduran section of the Vía de la Estrella leaves the city of Cáceres through the Arco de la Estrella following the medieval layout of the old Vía Norba, one of the essential roads in the network of Roman roads in the west of the peninsula. The milestones of the Jacobean way carry the symbol of the Compostela scallop adorned with a golden star, they pass through Malpartida de Cáceres, Arroyo de la Luz, Brozas, Villa del Rey, Alcántara, Piedras Albas and enter Portugal through the Roman bridge of Segura, on the border river Eljas. In total there are 85 kilometers that can be covered on foot, by mountain bike or gravel. The Vía de la Estrella continues through Portuguese territory towards the medieval village of Idanha a Velha, crosses the Serra da Estrella and ends in Braga, where the Jacobean pilgrims continue towards Santiago de Compostela along some of the itineraries of the Camino de Santiago Portugués.

The Vía de la Estrella is an old Roman road that left Cáceres and reached Braga, connecting the Vía de la Plata with the territories of Roman Lusitania. At present it is marked with posts and marks of the Jacobean scallop of the Camino de Santiago Vía de la Plata.
