A really great circular route over the Lilienstein with many highlights in different places, starting with the great view on the north ascent in the direction of Rathen/Bastei & Brand, over the east view at the Wetter Kiefer, the Drachenhöhle, the Rabenbad, the obelisks and the remains of the castle in height of the restaurant. The absolute highlight, of course, is the view on the west side from the popular photo spot on the western tip.

It's really worth walking this path in the roundabout. Starting at the restaurant behind the toilets, we head north downhill and from there to the Wetterpine at the eastern tip of the Lilienstein. Then we go past the obelisks and views on the south side back to the restaurant.

What are the main ascent routes to the Lilienstein summit, and how do they differ in difficulty?

There are two primary ascent routes to the Lilienstein summit. The southern ascent is generally steeper and includes steps and iron ladders, offering a more challenging climb. Both paths lead through dense forests and past impressive sandstone formations before reaching the summit plateau.

Is the Lilienstein Summit Circular Trail suitable for families with small children, especially considering the metal ladders?

While the summit circular trail itself is generally manageable, the ascent routes to the summit can be challenging for very small children. The southern ascent, in particular, features metal ladders and steep steps. Families with small children might find the northern ascent more suitable, or consider carrying younger children through the more difficult sections. Always assess your children's capabilities and comfort with heights before attempting the climb.
