The task of the association, which was founded on October 18, 1965, is the procurement of water, water extraction, treatment and distribution, including the construction and operation of water extraction and distribution systems. The special purpose association can undertake work on local distribution networks as well as operational and management tasks for a fee. In addition, the special-purpose association can carry out other tasks in the area of water supply and wastewater disposal, provided that these tasks are assigned to it by a member of the association.
The supply area includes the city of Offenbach and the cities and municipalities of the Offenbach district. The districts of Steinheim and Klein-Auheim in the city of Hanau and the group waterworks association Dieburg (ZVG) for the municipality of Messel in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district are also supplied.
