It is so imposing and elegant that most visitors call it the "cathedral"! The church of Saint-Christophe dominates the city center from the top of its 87 meters. Built between the thirteenth and nineteenth centuries, it is one of the most beautiful neo-Gothic buildings in the region. But did you know that it is home to the 4th largest carillon in France? Its 62 bells play different melodies every 1/4 of an hour. The bravest climb the 200 steps of the bell tower to visit the carillon museum.

The Saint Christophe church began its history around the 8th century and underwent many transformations over time. It owes its current silhouette, in neo-Gothic style, to the architect Louis Croïn who, at the end of the 19th century, raised its bell tower and spire and rebuilt its belfry. For the enlargement of its sacristy, in 1892, he was inspired by the architecture of the sacristy of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris.

The church, the heart of the city, has grown since the eleventh century as the population grew. The church was almost completely rebuilt in 1857-1865 by the architect Charles Leroy in a neo-Gothic style, completely free of the usual clichés of the nineteenth century.
The rooster is 85 meters from the ground. The entire building was restored from 1987 to 2000.
