The Rinnerhütte is a welcoming mountain hut nestled at 1,473 meters in the western part of Austria's Totes Gebirge (Dead Mountains), within the scenic Salzkammergut region of Upper Austria. Managed by the Bergsteigerbund Ebensee, this traditional Schutzhaus serves as a popular resting point and an excellent base for exploring the surrounding alpine landscape. Its "house mountain" is the impressive Rinnerkogel, a 2,012-meter peak that stands proudly southwest of the hut.

    There is a dish of the day, excellent snacks and pastries.

    The Rinnerhütte lies in the Dead Mountains and can be reached in a two-and-a-half hour hike from Offensee. This trail can also be hiked well with children, but then you should plan for about four hours for the climb. The cottage is particularly family friendly and the surrounding nature is a real paradise for young and old explorers.

    The hut is open from early June to mid-September, depending on the weather, it is already open in May and in October at weekends. More information at wander-bar.at/die-basis.
