The Clothmakers' Gate was built around 1600 in the Renaissance style as a representative entrance to the city cemetery and was donated by the clothmakers' guild, hence the name. The original was replaced by a copy in 1956.

The Tuchmachertor in Meißen is a splendid Renaissance portal and is one of the most beautiful architectural examples of this time.
From the Frauenkirche it goes to the Tuchmachertor. The gate, built in 1614 in the Renaissance style, was donated as the entrance gate to the city cemetery by the once wealthy drapery guild of Meissen.
It is worth taking a detour through the Tuchmachertor to the historic old brewery, the main building of the Schwerter brewery. For many years, the beer of the citizens of Meißner, who had the right to brew, was brewed here.
