The church of St. Helena was built in a uniquely beautiful location on a hill with a stunning view of the Latemar, Rosengarten and Schlern mountains in the 12th century.

Inside is one of the masterpieces of the Bolzano school of painting from the 15th century. Many of the wonderful wall paintings are still very well preserved, especially inside in the apse and in the vaults.

The facade of the church shows a depiction of St. Christopher and on the south wall there are interesting images of Mary with the baby Jesus and the three virgins Catherine, Barbara and Margaretha.

Hardly anyone who passes the St. Helena Church near Deutschnofen will not be surprised by the art-historical paintings in the little church, which no one would actually suspect here, in this secluded location.
The frescoes inside the St. Helena Church are among the most valuable examples of High Gothic architecture from the early 15th century. The frescoes are particularly well preserved in the nave vault.
