In the heart of a beautiful park planted with rare species, you can visit the house where Daniel O'Connell—the "Liberator," as he is known—spent his childhood before attending school in Cobh and then in France. This 19th-century residence contains touching reminders of the famous patriot: personal objects, documents, furniture, and family paintings, including a stunning painting depicting him as Hercules breaking his chains!

The lawyer and politician Daniel O'Connel used to live in this impressive mansion. He was a member of the British Parliament and successfully campaigned for the emancipation of the Catholic Irish. To this day, the always popular O'Connel is a hero in Ireland and especially on the Iveragh Peninsula. Today there is a museum in his house where you can find out more about his work. The museum café offers warm drinks and delicious pastries.

The beautiful property with a wonderful park is located in the middle of the Derrynane National Historic Park, which you should take a little time to explore.
The wide view of the sea perhaps explains the intellectual foresight of former resident Daniel O'Connel with his attitudes towards various human rights, which were very remarkable at the time.
Combined with the hiking trails and beaches, you can easily spend a whole day here.
