                                        The route follows the Wedeler Au river on its way from the Schleswig-Holstein state border to the mouth.
                                        The source area is in the Sülldorf district of Hamburg.
                                        From there the Au flows as a small stream through the Hamburg area.
                                        After six kilometers it changes to Schleswig-Holstein soil and finally flows into the Elbe west of Wedel.
                                        From source to mouth the water travels approximately 13 kilometers.
                                        That's not a lot, don't you think?
                                        And yet the Wedeler Au is the longest tributary of the Elbe, which rises in Hamburg.
                                        The Autal route is almost seven kilometers long.
                                        You can start the tour from Rissen on the middle reaches of the Au or in Wedel. Along the way we will tell you something about the river and its history at 12 stops. This includes storm surges, dike construction and taming the water through the Wedel barrage.
