In August 2024, Green Runners founding member Dan Lawson set an incredible new Fastest Known Time (FKT) for running the National Three Peaks. From Caernarfon in North Wales, he ascended Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), before running all the way to Cumbria to tackle Scafell Pike. The long slog north to the Scottish Highlands followed, before an ascent of the UK’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. Dan finished the attempt in 4 days, 23 hours and 46 minutes, breaking the record by almost 24 hours.

This Collection follows my journey in supporting Dan’s incredible feat. I cycled and occasionally ran alongside him, a journey that took me from the mountains of Snowdonia (Eryri) to the stunning peaks of Lochaber in the Scottish Highlands, via the beautiful Lake District. I then joined Dan in the final push up to the summit of Ben Nevis. A big thanks must go out to Robbie Britton, ultra-distance coach and athlete, who meticulously planned the route using komoot, which we then used to navigate throughout. We haven't included a section along the A82 through the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park in the Collection – we wouldn't recommend this section of road as a safe place to run or cycle.

The story of each day can be read in the Tour descriptions. This was one of the toughest things I’ve ever done, but it was also one of the most rewarding. It also helped to spread the word about the important work of The Green Runners.

Dan and I are both founding members of The Green Runners, along with other well-known athletes like Damian Hall and Jasmin Paris. Since we began in 2022, we’ve grown to over 3,000 members, who we support on their journey towards more sustainable running.

We all share the love of the natural world, feel the benefits of clean air and the increased wellbeing outdoor adventure brings. We’re committed to the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss, helping our members to make positive changes and taking action where action is needed most.

  2. The second day was a journey to the beautiful Lake District for Dan to take on Scafell Pike, England’s highest mountain. I continued providing support from my bike and Dan was also supported by several friends at different points along the route.

  5. Thursday took us across the Southern Uplands to the urban sprawl of Glasgow and beyond, to Dumbarton near the Highland Fault Line. The end was drawing ever closer but still seemed a long way off. It was also my birthday, what a way to celebrate!

Its 4:30am, and the challenge restarts,

  6. Setting off from Dumbarton, Dan was now getting closer to Ben Nevis and the completion of his remarkable journey. We haven’t included the route of the cycle along the A82 through the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park, as we wouldn’t recommend this section of road as a safe option for running

  7. I joined Dan on the final push, ascending the Pony Track to Ben Nevis, Britain’s highest mountain, before returning to Glen Nevis and finishing in Fort William. Dan’s clocked up a total of 428 miles (688km) during his incredible run, while my experience supporting his effort was something I’ll never
