    Vroeg in de ochtend nemen we de veerboot naar Zimnicea in Roemenië, dan naar Giurgiu en vandaar over een grensbrug naar Bulgarije en een paar kilometer verder naar Russe.
    Ik ben blij dat ik voor de vlakke etappe in Roemenië heb gekozen. Geen bijzonder aantrekkelijk landschap, maar de 82 kilometer rollen als een trein over goede wegen met relatief attent vrachtwagenrijden en bij een aangename 21° Celsius. Ik heb me weer bewapend met een lange wilgenroede maar hoef op de hele route maar één hondenaanval af te weren.
