    Bijna verscholen tussen de oude huizen van het kleine dorpje vind je de barokke kerk van St. Pankratius. Met een leeftijd van bijna 300 jaar is de kleine kerk een van de oudere kerken in het Münsterland.

    Volgens de overlevering werd aan het einde van de 3e / begin van de 4e eeuw onder keizer Diocletianus Sint Pankratius, aan wie deze kerk van Rinkeroder is gewijd, in het openbaar geëxecuteerd vanwege zijn christelijk geloof. Het lichaam van de martelaar werd begraven op de Romeinse Via Aurelia - in de later naar hem vernoemde catacomben - onder de huidige kerk "San Pancrazio". Zijn feestdag is op 12 mei, hij is een van de drie zogenaamde "ijsheiligen" in de volksvroomheid, samen met Servatius en Bonifatius (in sommige gebieden aangevuld met "Koude Sophie" een dag later).
