    De geschiedeniszuil is het essentiële onderdeel van een fontein op de Josef-Görres-Platz in de oude binnenstad van Koblenz. Het werd in 1992 door de deelstaat Rijnland-Palts aan de stad geschonken ter gelegenheid van het 2000-jarig bestaan. Het werd echter pas op 1 juni 2000 voltooid en aan de stad overgedragen. De fontein met zijn geschiedeniszuil werd gemaakt door de beeldhouwer Jürgen Weber. De 10,59 meter hoge, 3,6 ton zware en 1,25 miljoen DM dure zuil vertelt de ontroerende 2000-jarige geschiedenis van de stad Koblenz in tien beelden vanaf de Romeinse tijd tot nu.
