Vanwege verval moest deze kerk in 1835 worden gesloten en uiteindelijk in 1846 worden afgebroken. Tijdens de bouw van de nieuwe kerk nam de gemeente haar intrek in een verbouwde schuur op de boerderij van Junkers. De huidige kerk werd tussen 1849 en 1852 gebouwd volgens de plannen van architect Friedrich Heinrich Kronenberg en ingewijd op 14 november 1852.
