Vanaf de Keltische tijd tot 1883 was dit gebied een voormalige ertsmijn, de "Bcleanerberg" mijn. Interessant hoe de natuur de door de mens gemaakte put heeft teruggewonnen. Als je ernaar kijkt, zou je het gebied de Lage Venen kunnen noemen, verwijzend naar de Hoge Venen.
