In the Civic Library of Bergamo there is a document dated 1165, in which the name "Holera" is mentioned.

This is a parchment, written in Latin, in which a dispute is underway between the Scaroto and Penezza families regarding the payment of tithes to the Church of S. Vincenzo and S. Alessandro, in Bergamo.

Alberto Acerbis, a descendant of one of the richest and oldest Bergamo families, had a house and church built in his Villa d'Olera in 1296.

But the origins of Olera are still uncertain.
