There are 2 car parks - one at the bottom of the museum and one further up if you don't want to "climb" that much. Admission is free, it smells of sulfur and the colors of the minerals range from white, yellow, ocher red, very rarely blue and green even to brown and black. I loved it!

Vandring

The denomination "biancane" is a recurring toponym in Tuscany, it indicates places where, in large areas, rocks or minerals of a dominant white color emerge, contrasting with the surrounding green of the woods or agricultural crops.
In fact, in addition to the Biancane di Monterotondo, so named because of large outcrops of jasper completely whitened by geothermal fluids, the "Crete Senesi" are also known with the name of Biancane, consisting of large mounds of marine Pliocene clays, the surface of which is white due to the presence of extensive crystalline efflorescence of a mineral, thenardite (sodium sulphate).

Vandring

The route is worthwhile if done in a loop from Monterotondo to Sasso Pisano and back. Suggestive smokers and small gaisers. Also suitable for children. The path is never dangerous.
