In the meantime, the Katharinenstift, which was founded in 1888 thanks to foundations by the Aachen entrepreneur Gerhard Rehm (1816-1892) and his wife Katharina, née Ervens (1818-1887), has become a pasture The original purpose was the organization of outpatient nursing in the surrounding villages, the running of a household school for girls, the admission of women of both denominations as pensioners for the purpose of nursing and the admission of Catholic orphans. Augustine, who took over the Katharinenstift as the 13th branch. In 1910, the associated chapel was consecrated by Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Müller from Cologne ... "

Attention: on the hike "In the Land of Galmeis" you pass a small bridge behind the Katharinenstift. This is currently closed due to dilapidation (as of Feb. 2020). Possibly. Plan a detour in time - or do so "at your own risk" ..
