8.5 miles of well made trails. Easy going, not too steep for the most part.

In early October we saw deer, dragonflies, toadlets and lots of squirrels. Plenty of birdlife to observe too.

From Stanhope head west to Stanhope Old Hall then follow the Stanhope Burn north through a wooded valley. Cross the burn at the old mine and return towards Crawleyside via a unused lane. The final leg back into Stanhope is via Ash Quarry nature reserve.

Follow the disused railway west for 3 miles to a caravan park. Over the old rail bridge into a wooded riverside area. Cross the road to eastgate , past the church to pick up a series of file trails. No e of the stiles are marked. Lots of ruined farms on route and great views over weardale

A flat and easy walk along the grassy trails along the Humber bank, stopping for for a well earned pint at the dog-friendly Haven Inn at Barrow Haven before returning to Barton over field trails.

Very flat and mostly firm surfaces.

Dogs are not allowed in the Far Ings nature reserve itself but there are no restrictions on the public footpaths that circle the reserve.

An excellent hike taking in canal paths, a country park, a nature reserve, rural tracks and ancient woodland. Very boggy in places around the nature reserve after heavy rain but otherwise easy going.

An easy hike alongside the Chesterfield canal and associated nature reserve. From The leg from Tapton to Inkersall via Brimington Common takes in country lanes before crossing the West Wood. All very easy hiking despite the recent heavy rain.

A simple forest tour along a variety of path types, taking in several different woodland eco systems. Paths are steep and muddy in places but worth the effort.

Flat and easy walking along a mixture of tracks and paths, crossing fields of wheat and rapeseed. The Royal Oak pub in Holton le Clay is a worthwhile rest stop.
