Beautiful weather and a mild late afternoon on our last day in the Allgäu made us want to take a farewell dip.

The mountain rescue trail above Bad Oberdorf offers a great opportunity.

An easy path lined with trees and other vegetation.

Dotted with small clearings that repeatedly offer views of the valley

Starting at the Bruck-Säge parking lot, the Emmi-Mobil saved 2.5 km of asphalt up to there.

The signposted walking time to the Rotspitze was 3 3/4 hours.

It actually took just under 2 3/4 hours.

And there's quite a lot going on along the trail.

For this year's farewell tour, we went back to the Schrattenwangalpe.

Welcoming and saying goodbye to Bella is a tradition for us. (Those in the know already know.)

Afterwards, we headed to Freibergsee, past the cute alpacas who absolutely dislike

"Caught by surprise" by the rain, I only had time for a short walk along the meadows near Oberstdorf.

The Stillach Bridge provided shelter from the heavy showers.

Then I quickly headed to the bus station.

The Großer Daumen is almost always on the agenda for vacations in Oberstdorf.

So far, the visibility has unfortunately always been very limited.

Today, at least the silhouettes of a few 3,000-meter peaks were visible. Later, the Zugspitze was also visible.

From the Höfatsblick station, the trail climbs

From Reichenbach to the Entschenkopf, past the Upper Gaisalpsee, over the Gaisfußsattel to the Nebelhorn, to the Höfatsblick station.

The Entschenkopf is less frequented than its neighbor, the Rubihorn.

Anyone who has made this climb knows why.

Once again, the weather forecast was wrong, with numerous rain showers.

Bernardi Bräu d' Rosalie, with Kässpätzle and Kaiserschmarrn.

The return journey was correspondingly arduous.

The Oytal Valley is probably the most beautiful in Oberstdorf.

Along the Trettach and later the Oybach, it's a pleasantly leisurely tour for long stretches.

Shortly before the Oytalhaus, the section begins where the mighty walls and peaks are closer than in any other valley.

Because the walking time to the Rappenseehütte was significantly shorter, I had rescheduled for Hohe Licht.

From the Rapenseehütte, it took me longer than indicated.

This wall looks insurmountable from a distance.

From Christelsee via Hölltobel, Alpe Dietersbach, Älpelesattel, Hochwiese at Rauheck, Eissee lakes, Oytal valley back to Oberstdorf.
