The two parks Heemtuin and Tussen de Venen Natural Park cover a total area of approximately fifty hectares, which can be divided into four areas: the Heemtuin, a nature development area, a visitor center with cultural gardens and "Tussen de Venen". In 1982, work began on Heemtuin, when an old sheep pasture was transformed into a varied natural forest and an artificial landscape with wild flowers and plants. Ten years later, the natural development area was created when ponds and a relief were created on a former agricultural area. In the mid-nineties, the visitor center was built, which is surrounded by a cultural garden with herb garden, a small petting zoo and a nature playground. The nature park "Tussen de Venen" was created in 2005. In the nature park there is a prehistoric settlement, in which experiments take place regularly, for example the construction of a hunting lodge or a fish trap.
