The historic church on the outskirts of Murato is from the 12th / 13th century. It was built from green serpentine and white limestone blocks. It is considered one of the best preserved Romanesque religious buildings in Corsica.

The green and white stones (serpentine and limestone) are the most striking signs of the small church in front of the village of San Michele de Murato. The architectural style is called late Pisan.
It is one of the oldest and most beautiful churches in Corsica. Construction began between 1130 and 1140 AD and it was completed in several stages.
Many of the sculptures date back to the 13th century and depict biblical scenes.
