The Alpe lies at the head of the valley of the Oytal in a unique basin above the Stuibenfall on Schartenbach (1180 - 2000 m). In written use, the form "Käseralpe" has prevailed to a large extent today, but in everyday usage it is simply called "Käser". Formerly it was part of the Gutenalpe and was separated from it after 1637. 1687 will be the first time for cheese makers and
Gutenalpe the pastures listed separately. The "Keser" was therefore originally nothing else than the Sennhütte the Good Alp.
The Käser-Alpe actually also includes the Rauhenhals-Alpe, which, however, is no longer steamed up by the cheese maker. In 1742, a bear was shot here, which had caused great damage to the sheep and goat herds. In 1848, 100 Galtvieh were plowed, around 1945 it was on the 280-acre Genossenschaftsalpe 94. In the early days of alpinism in the Allgäu mountains, she was often used as a quaint and extremely primitive accommodation.
Beautifully located Alpe in the back Oytal, here you can stop by again and strengthen for the on-the-way to the Älpeles saddle.
