Haffkrug is a village in the municipality of Scharbeutz in Schleswig-Holstein with 1,824 inhabitants (as of March 2011).

Haffkrug is located in the western Lübeck Bay and can be reached via the federal motorway 1. Haffkrug has had the title of a spa since 1813 and has been a seaside spa since 1970. Haffkrug has been part of Scharbeutz since January 1974. It stretches for almost two kilometers on the Baltic Sea beach.

Excursions by ship are offered from the pier, e.g. B. to Lübeck-Travemünde or towards Grömitz. In summer, festivals such as the “Eel Week” are celebrated on the open-air stage at the Kurparkhaus. There are a few hotels and restaurants as well as various beach shops. Haffkrug came into public interest after plans became known to deeply redesign the naturally grown coastal landscape in order to build a marina. This project is still the subject of controversial discussion.

Directly at exit 15 (Haffkrug / Eutin) of the A1 there is a cemetery of honor for the dead of the Cap Arcona and Thielbek catastrophe, where victims of the sinking of the Cap Arcona and Thielbek are buried.

From Sierksdorf to Scharbeutz there is a great promenade path that connects the small but beautiful spa towns.
