It is a baroque conversion of a late Gothic building with an originally open ground floor, built around 1480 (coat of arms stone) and burned down by the Swedes in 1631. The mansard roof with ridge turret stands behind a curved shield gable. Two coat of arms reliefs indicate 1726 as the year of the conversion by Elector Lothar Franz von Schönborn.

It is an open hall building. The archways that can still be seen today were only bricked up in later years. There is a stone figure on each corner of the town hall: Justitia, justice, and Prudentia, prudence.

The memorial plaque with the city's coat of arms and the year 1726 reads: Per Suecos combusta en tota rediens nova venusta (Burned by the Swedes, behold, I have risen again, all beautiful)."

And above the staircase we find the following inscription: In et sub regime ter gratioso Lotharii Francisci Archiepiscopi et Princeps Electoris erigebatur (Erected during and under the extremely pleasant government of Archbishop and Elector Lothar Franz).
