Maria Altenburg is a pilgrimage church built in the Middle Ages in Moosach.
The church consists of a hall building with a drawn-in polygonal choir, an attached two-storey sacristy and a southern flank tower with a gabled roof. It was first mentioned in 1391. In 1711 it was baroque-style and decorated with stucco.

The late Gothic church, built on the site of the Altenburg castle chapel (before 1250), was first mentioned in 1391. It was consecrated in 1405. The first structural changes were made in 1467, when the church received a new choir and the southern pointed arch portal, which is now bricked up. Maria Altenburg was renovated in Baroque style in 1711 and decorated with rich stucco and fresco paintings. The church was restored in 1975 and 1993/1994.

Beautiful pilgrimage church, also worth a look inside - on weekends there is a possibility to stop at the cafe, Sunday morning only host and altar wine :)

The pilgrimage church emerged from the former castle chapel of the Counts of Sempt from Ebersberg, whose castle was mentioned in documents as early as 1250. The current church was built in 1467 and was given a Baroque style around 1711.
