The Mauritiuskirche is the former church of the parish Kirchrimbach. The small building, the tower of which is as wide as its ship, with its choir tower dates from the early 14th century, the upper half-timbered building dates from 1681, just as its long house, according to the inventory, dates from this period. The village church on the eastern outskirts developed into a problem child for the community and all pastors in the following centuries. From 1720 onwards there was repeated information in the files about structural damage and repairs to the nave, choir tower and roof covering. In addition, from 1800 the lack of space was complained about - the Mauritiuskirche had simply become too small for the community. A new church, the Christuskirche, on the western edge of the village was only completed in 1903.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the Mauritius Church became widely known through the picture of the little church in Franconia by the Art Nouveau painter Matthäus Schiestl and also gave the building the name "Schiestl Church" in the vernacular... great gem on the Kunigundenweg!
