Based on the experiences of the First World War – here especially the battles for Fort Loncin – Battice was protected against shelling with a caliber of up to 520 mm by appropriately heavily reinforced concrete and the combat blocks were also placed far from the underground barracks. Five artillery blocks are distributed over the area of a pentagon: three retractable armored turrets (blocks 4, 6 and A-north), each with two 75 mm cannons (range up to 10.1 km) and two armored turrets (blocks B-north and B -South) with two 120 mm cannons each (range up to 17.5 km). Except for the north side, the facility is surrounded by a storm-free ditch, which was covered by four pranks. Maintaining the north-facing railway line made it necessary to build two flanking facilities (blocks 1 and 2), each with two 60 mm anti-tank guns. The main entrance is at the northeastern ditch and another entrance with the main fan is about 400 m away from the entire system. The barracks with relaxation rooms, kitchen and medical center is located at a depth of around 30 m. A power station used six 175 HP motors to generate the electrical energy for lighting, ventilation, elevators, etc. A 3.8 km long underground passage system connects all the important parts of the fort. Six artillery observation stands were erected in the vast surroundings of Battice.
