The moor adventure trail runs parallel to the main road for a while and then turns diagonally to the right. This section of the route, called the Vogeldamm, leads through the most accessible moor section of the entire North Hanover Moor Route. Peat was also mined here in the past. Today, this part of the moor is a nature reserve. The success can be seen in many places: a viewing platform and a footbridge that leads between pines and birches over a regrowing moor provide a direct insight into the moor habitat. Targeted rewetting has led to the original moor vegetation being able to settle here again. Attentive observers can spot plants typical of moors such as cotton grass, sphagnum moss and the rare sundew.

Peat mining was traditionally done by hand with a peat spade. At some points along the route you can still see such old hand-cut peat pits. They are easy to recognize by their rectangular shape. Filled with rainwater, they now serve as a habitat for plants and animals. After about four kilometers, the Vogeldamm ends at a T-junction. The moor forest here turns into an open landscape. About 100 meters further to the right, a sign points to the nearby observation tower.
