At around 20 meters high, the lighthouse in Bastorf is one of the smallest lighthouses in Germany. Nevertheless, the lighthouse above Cape Bukspitze - which is why the correct name is Lighthouse Buk - is the highest. The tower stands at almost 80 meters above sea level. In 1878, 18 months after construction began, his beacon shone for the first time up to 18 nautical miles out to the Baltic Sea. The light in the tower has been turning automatically for 40 years.

When visibility is good, you can see from here as far as the island of Fehmarn and Warnemünde. The lighthouse is open to visitors all year round from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and until 5 p.m. in the summer months. You can take a coffee break at Café Valentis. A beautiful place for a promising stop not far from the Baltic Sea resort of Kühlungsborn.

The Bastorf lighthouse stands on the Signalberg above Cape Bukspitze and is one of the smallest in Germany. In addition to its function as an orientation fire on the western Baltic Sea, its main task is to warn of "Hannibal" a sandbar in the entrance to Wismar Bay.

Next to the lighthouse is a caffè / restaurant. Definitely worth a visit here. Very nice view to the Baltic Sea.

In summer you sit on the sheltered terrace.
