      For more than a hundred years, the center of Helsingborg has been adorned by a majestic red brick building. It is considered the second most important structure in the city after Chernan's Tower, but most tourists tend to give priority to the Town Hall—its design brightens up the surrounding landscape.

      What we see today is the result of the overwhelming success of the young architect Alfred Hellenstrom. He barely managed to get a diploma from the Academy of Arts when, as early as 1889, he won a competition for the best project for the reconstruction of Helsingborg Town Hall. Construction was successfully completed in 1897.

      In 1965, the building's exterior was enhanced with an extension in the form of a chapel, where marriages were once registered. Today, there is an observation deck on the roof where everyone can admire the view of the city. Interestingly,
      a model of the old Town Hall was cast in bronze and installed as a small monument in the square in front of the building.
